Literary Agent at Watson Little
Megan Carroll
Megan graduated from Goldsmiths with a BA in English and American Literature in 2013 and has been at Watson, Little since 2014 – first as an assistant and now as a Literary Agent.
She is looking for writers in a variety of areas, and from a wide range of backgrounds – she is particularly keen to hear from Black, Asian, and LGBTQIA+ writers across all genres (both fiction and non-fiction). Megan’s list is predominantly commercial, and she is keen to find good quality books that lots of readers will enjoy.

She is always keen to find love stories (both YA and adult), particularly romcoms, sweeping epic love stories, high concept romance, and ‘romantasy’ novels. She’d especially love to see those familiar romance tropes – enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, love triangles, forbidden love etc. – with underrepresented characters and cultures at the centre (think Sara Desai’s The Marriage Game or Jesse Sutanto’s Aunties series) and in romantasy, she loves rich and layered world building with unique magic systems and retellings that are exploring largely untold mythology and folk tales.
If you book a 1-2-1 session with Megan, she requires a cover letter, synopsis and the first 3 chapters in one document which you email to info@RomanceWritingFestival.co.uk by 30th September.

Editorial Director One More Chapter
Charlotte Ledger
Charlotte Ledger is Publisher of One More Chapter.
She started in publishing in 2011 at Mills & Boon before moving across to HarperCollins in 2013. Since then, she has worked across commercial fiction from Sunday Times bestseller Evie Woods to Julie Caplin, who has sold over two million copies worldwide and Laurie Gilmore’s The Pumpkin Spice Café.
A champion for digital publishing, Charlotte was highly commended at the Futurebook awards and won the Book Marketing Society’s Best Shoestring Campaign for her work on the first online romance festival. She was shortlisted for The Bookseller and SYP’s Trailblazer of the Year award and has won the Romantic Novelist Association’s Publisher of the Year award twice, nominated a third time.

Charlotte is looking for strong, unique voices and fresh twists on popular themes across romance, book club, fantasy and historical fiction.

Publishing Director at Boldwood Books
Emily Ruston
Previously working as a freelance editor Emily Ruston began her career at Harlequin Mills & Boon and has continued to edit for nearly all the major publishing houses, digital start-ups and self-published authors. She has edited numerous Amazon and Sunday Times bestsellers. Boldwood are focussed on well told and satisfying romances whatever form they come in. Emily particularly loves a hot billionaire, a well-crafted romantasy world, sports romance and cowboys.

Editor at Hera/Canelo
Jennie Ayres
Jennie Ayres has over ten years of editorial experience and is passionate about bringing new voices to the Hera list and supporting authors through the publishing process.
She is particularly interested in romances and romcoms from underrepresented voices, but also adores fresh, hooky romances that offer a new twist or spin on a beloved trope

Literary agent at Watson, Little
Hannah Weatherill
Hannah joined Watson, Little after four years as an agent at Northbank Talent Management and a year at Penguin Random House UK. She represents a varied list of commercial and upmarket fiction and non-fiction, and authors she’s represented have been listed for prizes including the Women’s Prize, the British Book Awards, the Jhalak Prize, the Comedy Women in Print Prize and the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction.
Hannah is always looking for excellent writing which marries a strong voice with a catchy one-line concept and a fresh, compelling plot. She is a lover of grounded love stories in all forms, whether that’s a smart, funny romcom, a moving coming-of-age novel, or a big, weepy epic.
